Pictures

Can you believe it... twice in one week. We are trying to do a better job with pictures. Emma and Kayla are changing so quickly. There are no real updates on the girls except that Kayla has slept through the night for the last 2 nights :) Emma is getting more words and Kayla is blowing raspberries.

Emma's new way to get around. She is so close to walking. She will push her toy ahead of her and then walk to it.
Note the sticks.....

If you are wondering what gift to get Emma.. Might I suggest sticks. They are a great motivator for her.
Collecting more sticks... you can never have enough sticks

Also sticks are a great source of dirt. Anyone know how to get nutrients from sticks?

Hello again!

Well, I haven't posted in a while. My wonderful wife has been posting lately, and she has done a great job. The reasons for not posting more often are numerous, but hopefully this is the restart of somewhat regular postings.

Life here has been crazy...

Kayla is getting HUGE. She is just over 5 months old, and she has gained almost 10 pounds! (for those of you keeping score, when Emma was 5 months old, she wasn't even 10 pounds yet). She is a very happy baby overall. She can stand (with help) and loves to play with things with her hands. One of Kayla's favorite pastimes is to watch her sister... she can do it forever with wonderment and awe.

Emma is Emma. She is opinionated and fun loving (for the most part). She is so happy that the weather is nice now... in fact, she gets mad when we have to take her inside! She is SOOO close to walking on her own. She will stand on her own without problems, and, if she really wants to, she will take a step or two. She loves her sister, although she isn't too sure what she thinks of Kayla's new fondness for Emma's mommy's shirt.

Liz is a rockstar. She does a great job taking care of Emma and Kayla everyday. I'm not sure how she does it. But, she does it, and she does it in stride. Like Emma, she is so happy that the weather has taken a turn for the better. Ocassionally (sic), Liz will bring the girls down to the train station to meet me at night.

I am doing well. I like my work, I like the people, and I like the people I work with. While I do work long hours sometime, I try and spend as much time with Liz and the girls as possible. Overall, I feel like the luckiest guy in the world.

Check out Emma's hair. Her new thing is to pull on her hair while eating!
This Puff Star was on Emma's chin for a long time. It was so funny

Kayla looking so happy.
This is a very happy smile. She looks just like Emma when Emma was this old.

Giving Kayla rice cereal. She isn't sure what she thinks about it.

Happy May Day

So it has been a LONG time since the last post... lets get everyone up to speed then we will add pictures...

Emma is doing really well. We got the g-tube in the stomach and it has made feeding much easier. A new concept for us is being able to feed Emma on the go. She has a pump so we no longer have to push her food in with a syringe. She is 22 Lbs 10 oz so she is growing like a weed. We finally switched her to PediaSure and are working up to 8 oz 5 times a day... we will see. She officially turned 1 on March 21 and was home with us for a year on April 13th. We celebrated each of these milestones in Emma's life. She is now getting speech therapy 2x a week because she has no words as of yet. She can point to her head and belly when asked and knows were the lights are and will follow simple commands but is just not ready to talk yet. Feeding is still a struggle as she will take bites of everything and eat nothing at the same time. We are working to desensitize her gums and tongue. Emma is so happy!

Kayla will turn 5 months tomorrow. It is hard to believe. She is really tall and has the chubbiest cheeks ever. She loves watching Emma and is talking and squealing and laughing now. It is fun to see her grow. Her new thing is to roll over. We are not sure if it is because her head is so heavy or what but she is doing it and it is fun to watch. We don't think she knows how to make it happen. Kayla no longer sleeps through the night so we are trying to work with this. She is however taking naps during the day.

On to the pictures

Kayla was so happy in this snow suit.... until we got outside

Mommy, I promise I didn't do it... just look at my face.

We make Emma leave her "mommy's shirt" (aka blanket) in her crib. She will now crawl to the crib and get it out. She even checks out Kayla's crib if it is not in hers.

We hope to post a bit more frequently.
