Liz is a Teacher Again

Well, our first couple days in Bangkok have been exciting. Aside from getting over our jet lag and sleep deprivation, exploring the city has been interesting to say the least. We have gotten used to the area we live in now, and can find just about anything we will need to survive. We have also found the MBK shopping area, which is an experience in itself.

Yesterday we went to Chinatown to see some sites. The area is remarkably different than the area we live in, consisting of mostly hardworking, blue collar immigrants in poor areas. We now know where anything metal or mechanical is made or repaired in Thailand. While we were in Chinatown we had the opportunity to see several Chinese temples and a 500 ton golden buddha.

While we were at the buddha we were invited to join an english class for children. We were asked many different questions about ourselves, what we thought of Thailand, and the USA. It was lots of fun and it was interesting to see Liz in front of a class... kids are kids, no matter what the country.

We haven't figured out how to get pictures from our camera to somewhere we can post online. We don't have inernet at our apartment, and none of the reasonably priced internet cafes have a method of getting the images... we'll keep looking though.

10, 9, 8, 7...

Well, the hours are ticking down until we leave. 6 hours until our cab picks us up (at 1 am... sounds like fun). I think we are packed... but, we'll find out soon.

Unfortunately, the US lost v. Ghana yesterday... I was hoping to have the opportunity to watch a US World Cup match in a country that cares. But, Liz and I have adopted Spain as our new country to route for, so I hope that works out for us.

This may be the last post until we arrive in Thailand. I believe that the journey will only take somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,980 minutes (apartment to Thai customs), and will result in our setting foot in 4 separate countries. I expect to get somewhere in the neighborhood of 27 minutes of sleep during that time, so I hope I don't become "that American." Thank you Starbucks for infiltrating every airport and city in the world... I'll be relying on you heavily for the next couple days.

Final Countdown...

Well, Liz and I are starting to realize that we will be out of the country within a matter of days. While somethings will be procrastinated until the last minute (packing anyone?), other more important things, like starting a blog, are being completed with utmost importance.

For those of you who don't know, Liz and I are headed to Bangkok for a little while. We plan on posting to this site so that everyone can keep up with our adventures... however, that assumes we continue to update the blog. Regardless, we will be available via our normal email addresses and via skype (chadwick.sullivan). At some point we will purchase cell phones in Thailand, however I don't think many people will be so motivated to call those phones.

Well, have a great night everyone.
