Quick Step
Well, Emma has had a busy couple days. She has continued to do well off of antibiotics (almost a week now) and she is looking great. She has been a bit more tired lately, but I think we can attribute that to her having to breath more on her own and possibly another growth spurt.
Emma is continuing to eat well, and she is now up to 31ml every three hours. She really likes to eat... although while she grows taller (and fills out some), she still doesn't have the "baby fat".
Emma also continues to do great on her breathing. She has been making great strides the last couple days... she is now on a rate of 20 breaths a minutes supplied by the machine (i think she was at 30 or 35 last time I blogged) and the doctors dropped her pressure to 22/6 from 23/6. Overall, great steps toward Emma getting her breathing tube out of her mouth. She is handling the changes very well so far.
One big thing that will be happening w/ Emma over the next couple days is that Emma will be getting her 2 month immunizations. Believe me when I tell you that Liz and I had several talks with doctors and nurses before we felt comfortable moving forward with this. But, we have are convinced that this is the right time to do the shots. I won't get into much detail right now (because I'm sure I would mess up what the doctors told us)... but, if you have any questions let me know.

I must admit, I had some concerns when you mentioned vaccines at this early stage. I have researched vaccination for my own decision making process, and my husband and I have decided not to vaccinate our child at this time. There are risks if you do and risks if you don’t, and of course, the decision of which risks to accept is one only the parents can make for their own children. I can tell you that I've read that a safer way to administer vaccines is doing only one disease at a time, only using mercury free vaccines, and the longer you wait for the immune system to heal between vaccines the better (as in months). You can also put them off until you feel her immune system is stronger. There is a ton of info online and in books if you're interested in this subject. I think the more you know, the better you will feel about whatever you decide. I hope it’s not too bold of me to bring this up. I definitely don’t mean to judge you. I think you guys are wonderful parents. :) I'm so thankful that you've shared your beautiful little girl's life with all of us, and I pray for her (and you and Liz!) every day. God bless your wonderful family!
Hi, Chad, Liz & Emma! Liz, can I call sometime soon (that sounds silly! lol I know you're SO busy, but I want to talk to you, and it's no big deal if email's easier, I'll do that).
I haven't posted in a while, but I've been checking in, and it just warms my heart to see Emma doing so well. I love pictures, she is so beautiful! And she seems so alert for a 2 mo, let alone a 2 mo preemie! You can see how strong she's getting, and that's wonderful.
Anyway, I'm sure you guys have had to make a lot of decisions on Emma's care, you're both smart, you have doctors to discuss any reservations with, and I'm sure you'll make the right decisions. Being a parent has so much second guessing sometimes, but look how great you guys are doing already!
Hope to talk to you soon!
