Long Time...

So, it's been a while. Live has been very busy around here, per usual...

As I said before, I graduated from law school. And, today I officially became a lawyer. I was sworn into the Wisconsin State Bar and the Federal District of Wisconsin Western Court today. In addition I am now licensed to practice before the US Patent and Trademark office. Now I just need to continue with my review class for the Illinois state bar which I am taking on July 24-25.

Liz is doing well... she is finished with school and has begun to enjoy the life as a stay at home mom. Emma is giving her a run for her money, but all is well.

Emma is doing great. and since most of you who are reading this are most interested w/ what is happening with her... here we go!

Emma got off of oxygen in May and has done well since. She breathes very well overall, and recently the pulmonary doctor discontinued all of Emma's lung related medications (which is great for Emma and us).

Last we checked, Emma was about 11 1/4 pounds... her weight gain hasn't been as significant lately for a couple reasons. First, Emma is a lot more active, so she burns more calories. Second, we let Emma "eat what she could" several days, so she didn't always get quite as much as we would have liked. And third... she's getting bigger and needs more calories. But, she is doing well. She eats ~ 90ml seven times a day, and she often eats at least 50, if not close to 70 per feed. and she eats it relatively quickly... so, we are making strides.

No other medical issues for Emma... everything has been going well. She has a bit of a bug right now, but she is getting over it.

However, lots of other stuff has been going on... First, Emma is teething. Which appears to be very uncomfortable. Which means our lovable baby can go from happy to incredibly agitated very quickly and without provocation. We are learning to deal with it, but it is just one more fun part of raising a child.

Emma's hair continues to come in as red as ever, and her eyes have remained blue (which i'm told that baby's eyes will sometimes change colors... wierd).

Emma's vocal chords seem to be progressing. While she is still a "quiet baby" overall, she is making more and more "baby noises" and they are becoming more audible.

The fun part of it all has been watching her awareness / curiousity and her physical improvements. She has always been aware of people and curious about things, but Liz and I can often see the light turn on in Emma's head... Whether it be her manipulating her toys or moving the mirror on her play mat, it's all fun to watch.

Additionally, Emma has gotten a lot stronger. While she can't crawl yet, she can definitely move around... mostly in circles, but she can move. She is getting a bit better at sitting, but her forte is standing. She loves it. She can stand for a long period of time if you give her some support. Several weeks ago, she would stand very rigidly and would fall over pretty quickly. Then she started trying to maintain her balance, so she was quite shakey when she stood. Now she is still a bit shakey, but she now extends her arms to try and balance herself, and will sometimes take a step forward if she is falling a bit. Big steps... it's funny, because in a lot of ways Emma is hitting her 6/7 month goals even though she was born so early.

Overall, everything is going well. We move next week, so that ought to be interesting.

Hey! Just checking in with you guys.

I can't believe she's standing with support already! What a strong little girl.

I am starting to see her dad in those pictures a little more! When she was first born, I thought she looked so much like Liz! She's starting to look like a pretty little mix of both! So cute.

Hope to talk to you guys soon!
